What’s your personality type?
For those who study the enneagram, it will be no surprise to learn that I’m a “Seven” on the enneagram personality type. Sevens are considered the “enthusiasts”, extroverted, optimistic and love new adventures and challenges. I get my energy from people and love to seek out fun. I’m the type of person who is constantly planning the next outing, vacation, or project. I like to galvanize people to rally around my ideas, but might appear to be scattered. In reality, I’m able to compartmentalize and juggle many different things at once. I can quickly turn my attention to new things but get bogged down with details, probably because I’m already on to the next project!
What are your spring plans?
I have been working on a investment property in Lutsen, MN with my two friends and business partners for the past four and a half years, and we will finally be ready to launch it to the public for rent starting late May. It is a three bedroom modern “Stuga” that sits right on Lake Superior, just three miles past Lutsen Ski Hill. The finishing touches are happening as we speak and I’m looking forward to sharing it with those who love the North Shore as much as I do. Ask me about bookings at Tallens Stuga, or my recommendations for thru-hikes, day hikes or my favorite seasonal activities and restaurants in the area.
What do you like best about working in real estate?
Well, after 27 years in this career there must be a few things I like about it!
I love that each day is different, each season and cycle brings new challenges and opportunities for learning new skills, new market trends and creating new relationships. The relationships I’ve been able to develop throughout my career have been so valuable. Many of my clients have turned into dear friends. It is a privilege to meet people during one of the biggest transitions in their life, and to be able to guide and assist people through such an exciting (or sometimes stressful) time of life is very fulfilling. I have some clients who have trusted me to help them buy and sell dozens of homes throughout their lives, and throughout the country. I’ve been able to help their children, colleagues, and friends; from their first home to their last home, investment properties, vacation properties, and everything in between. I love connecting people with the right property, and sometimes with the right professionals in different cities if needed. I can’t imagine a more fitting or rewarding profession for me.

What do you like best about working in real estate?
I love the moment when clients find "the one" - that perfect property that checks all their boxes and feels like home. Helping people navigate one of their biggest life decisions and seeing their excitement when it all comes together is incredibly rewarding.
What's a misconception people have about working in real estate?
Oh jeez where do I begin? Most people perceive what we do is easy and even not a real job. The misconception that we open doors, put signs in yards and collect checks is the farthest thing from the truth. In reality, real estate is an intricate blend of market expertise, negotiation skills, legal know-how, and relentless problem-solving. Behind every transaction is hours of research, strategy, and advocacy—especially when representing buyers in a market where inventory is scarce and finding the right property requires deep connections and creative sourcing. It’s not just about showing homes; it’s about managing risk, protecting clients' best interests, and ensuring they make sound investments. The best agents aren’t just facilitators—they’re advisors, strategists, and fierce advocates navigating an ever-changing landscape.
